Assuming another state's supervised-hours count transfers. Definitions of qualifying supervision differ meaningfully between boards. Hours that satisfied your original licensure may be counted differently here.
Renewing Your Louisiana Psychology License
Renewal Cycle
Verify your renewal cycle and expiration date with Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (LSBEP). Renewal cycles vary between annual and biennial, and some states renew the whole profession on a fixed date rather than on each licensee's anniversary.
CE Requirement
Louisiana requires continuing education on the renewal cycle, and most states mandate specific content areas. Verify the current hour count and required topics with Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (LSBEP) — mandated subject lists change more often than the hour totals do. If you also hold an ASPPB E.Passport, its three hours of telepsychology-specific CE are a separate requirement on a separate cycle and do not satisfy state CE.

One general caution: endorsement is not a transfer. The board still evaluates whether your education, supervised experience, examination, and professional history are equivalent to its own standards, and it can conclude that they are not. Older training histories and non-standard program structures draw the most scrutiny.
The Jurisprudence Examination
Louisiana requires a state jurisprudence examination. The Louisiana Jurisprudence Examination must be passed before the license issues, including on the reciprocity route. Endorsement does not generally exempt applicants from it — a state-law examination is precisely the thing another state's license cannot evidence.
Medical Psychology Is a Different Board
Louisiana is unusual in where it puts prescriptive authority. A psychologist practising in Louisiana is licensed by the LSBEP, but a medical psychologist — a prescribing psychologist — is licensed by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, a different body under a different statutory scheme.
For licences issued after 1 January 2010, a medical psychology applicant must hold a current and unrestricted LSBEP psychology license in good standing, and must have completed a post-doctoral master's degree in clinical psychopharmacology from a regionally accredited institution, or equivalent board-approved training, plus a board-approved national psychopharmacology examination.
The practical consequence is that prescribing in Louisiana is a two-board process, and confusing them costs time. Get the LSBEP license first; the medical psychology license is layered on top.
PSYPACT® and Louisiana
Louisiana is not a PSYPACT® participating jurisdiction. The compact offers nothing here in either direction, and the second direction is the one people miss.
Inbound: an APIT® does not authorize telepsychology to a client located in Louisiana. A Louisiana license is required.
Outbound: because the ASPPB E.Passport requires an active doctoral-level license in at least one participating jurisdiction, a Louisiana license cannot serve as your compact home state. If Louisiana is the only place you are licensed, the compact is closed to you entirely until you add a license elsewhere. Texas, Arkansas and Mississippi all participate and border Louisiana, which is worth knowing — but remember the APIT® requires you to be physically located in your declared home state, so a neighbouring-state license helps only to the extent you are genuinely there.
